To reduce carbon emissions to net zero and create new and inclusive opportunities that contribute to a more sustainable future for Malaysia by 2050.
Environmental. Cleansing. Habitation. Oasis. (ECHO) Project started in September 2021 with the aim to impact SDG 13: Climate Action by educating communities about climate change and building action plans to reduce critical factors affecting the environment. This is done through cultivating sustainable lifestyles and enabling youth to adopt and maintain sustainable lifestyles through hands-on practical activities that can empower youth in taking tangible actions and create an action plan towards critical factors that will affect our environment.
As global environmental degradation and climate shift are boiling down to the local level, as a youth leadership organization, we take action.
Climate Action - Target 13.3
By 2030, Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.
Project Outcome
Youth are being more aware of climate change and taking actions to reduce the critical factors affecting our environment.
Project Outcome Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
Number of people educated/aware on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and/or early warning
Number of workshops and activities delivered about climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and/or early warning
Number of climate action plans created for the community
Project Key Activities
Educational Workshop
A space to introduce a new idea, inspire volunteers and beneficiaries to further explore it on their own, or may illustrate and promote actual process practice. It is also a great way to teach hands-on skills as it gives learners an opportunity to try out new methods and fail in a safe environment.
Waste to Treasure
A volunteer engagement campaign to reduce our waste, by helping to divert waste from landfill and engage volunteers to go #zerowaste for sustainability.
Conference of ECHO
An event where the presenters (i.e., students) are given a limited time to present their solutions in front of an audience and industry experts. This provides a good platform to spread the word about their solutions, obtain funding, valuable feedback for further improvements and collaboration with value-aligned individuals/organisations to strive towards Climate Action.
What did volunteers say?
“I have learnt how to make plastic baskets and Ecobrick has gained more knowledge about plastic facts and how to better manage plastic waste. Lastly, I had an opportunity to moderate in workshops and create impactful awareness videos.”
Anis Nur Zahirah
Volunteer, AIESEC in Universiti Putra Malaysia
“I realized that even though my contribution to climate action is small, I believe that it can make big changes if I consistently adopt it in my life. Not only that, when I post about environmental awareness on my social media, people actually see it and compliment my effort to spread the awareness. I think the community around me is well aware of the importance of environmental sustainability, however, we need a little push for us all to act on the awareness we have.”
Nur Fiqrah Khaleesa Ahmad
Volunteer, AIESEC in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
“Throughout this journey, I have developed a variety of skills, both soft and technical. First and foremost, my leadership and communication abilities have improved. In addition, I learned technical skills such as how to facilitate a workshop. Finally, I learned about some practical environmental solutions, such as how to create kokedama and how to produce a candle out of spent oil.”
Esmail Mubarak Saleh Alhaddad
Volunteer, AIESEC in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Message from our partners
“AIESEC has a team of young, proactive teenagers keen to improve themselves and make a change. We are glad their profession in study don't affect their interest to know more about our biodiversity and relevant environmental issues”
