AIESEC is a global youth-run organization that provides leadership development through cross-cultural exchanges, internships, and volunteering opportunities. In Malaysia, AIESEC runs programs that empower young people to make a social impact and become future leaders.
Any university student or recent graduate (usually within 2 years of graduation) between the ages of 18 and 30 can apply for AIESEC membership in Malaysia.
Members gain practical leadership experience, project management skills, access to a global network, personal development opportunities, and the chance to make a real impact in their communities.
Members can be placed in various functional areas such as Marketing, Business Development, Incoming or Outgoing Exchanges, Talent Management, Finance, and more – depending on the local committee and availability.
No prior experience is needed! AIESEC values passion, willingness to learn, and a proactive mindset. All necessary skills will be developed through training and hands-on experience.
You can apply through the official AIESEC Malaysia website or your university’s local AIESEC chapter. The process usually includes an online application, an interview, and an onboarding session.
I would said that i wanted to take higher role is because of step out from my comfort zone . During my journey , i face lots of different constraints, but still getting support from different AIESECers. I would say that I had learned about leadership is not just assigning the task to the members, but it’s about how we work together as a team to fight for the same aim.
I joined AIESEC because I wanted to improve my soft skills and gain extra knowledge for my future career. But along the way, I found so much more, I started to notice the changes in myself, how I communicated, how I thought, how I handled challenges. That’s when I knew I wanted to take a bigger step.
Then, I stepped up to take a higher role because I saw how much I had grown, and I believe there is still more potential in me to explore. Becoming a Business Development Manager was a big leap. I never imagined I could lead meetings with big companies or share ideas that truly make an impact.
One of my proudest moments was leading an L&D session. Just one term ago, I was the one listening. Now, I was the one speaking, sharing my journey with others who reminded me of my past self. It felt meaningful to give back.
Of course, there were tough times when I doubted myself., “Why am I doing this?” But I always came back to my “why”, the belief that every step, even the tough ones, helped me grow. And also what kept me going was my support system: my lovely teammates who always believed in me, encouraged me, and reminded me I am not doing this alone.
To anyone thinking of stepping up: If not now, then when? If not you, then who? Trust the process. Challenge yourself. Your journey starts with one brave step.
Joining AIESEC was a turning point in my life. I initially joined to improve my soft skills and build meaningful connections, but I never expected how much I would grow. From someone who used to tremble during interviews, I’ve become confident enough to pitch ideas to companies. Also, the people I met here constantly share insights I never would have realized on my own. They showed me that youth also have the power to contribute, to lead, and to create impact.
I stepped up as team leader because I was deeply inspired by my first team leader. Her empowerment motivated me so much, and I hope to become someone like her to inspire others while also developing my own leadership. When I first became a team leader, I had doubts about myself. But throughout the journey, I learned so much, not only about leading, but also from my own members. Seeing them grow and feel empowered was truly rewarding, and I’m grateful for their constant support.
Everyone in AIESEC has played a part in shaping who I am today. To anyone thinking about joining or taking on a higher role, "Stop asking what if,” because you’ll never know these precious experiences until you take that first step!
